Expectations
For "gym" days, students need to bring notebooks and pencils
to class. On "swimming days, students need to be ON the bus
by the time the class bell rings. The bus will load at the north
gym commons doors (by the tennis courts.) If a students missies
the bus, he/she needs to go to Mrs. Mroczek's office, and if it
is an unexcused tardy the student will be docked points and have
to make up the swimming.
Please keep in mind that students are expected to swim each day
that they are scheduled. Any day that is missed MUST be made up
to receive credit for the unit. DOCTOR'S excuses are the only excuses
accepted.
Students will be given 5 minutes to dress before swimming and 10
minutes to dress after swimming. All students need to shower before
entering the pool. After showering, students should sit on the bench
by the pool until receiving instructions from the teacher to get
in the water. The Community Center is very generous in allowing
us to use the facility. Please show your appreciation by respecting
the facility and people who are at the Community Center. When students
are dressed, they will meet in the lobby until we board the bus
as a group. The exercise room, museum, gym, game room, pop and candy
machines, etc. are off limits while we are there. Students need
to be only in the pool, locker rooms and lobby. When boarding and
un boarding the bus at the Community Center, Please do not walk
on the grass.
Appropriate behavior is expected of students at all times, whether
it be on the bus or at the Center.
Make sure you bring your suit, towel, etc., each day you swim. I
suggest you put them in a separate bay from your "book"
bag, so you don't get your books and homework all soggy. Please
do not leave your wet suit and towel in your locker over night,
as you will notice an unpleasant, moldy smell coming from your locker.
Ladies with long hair, you should wear your hair pulled back. Goggles
and swim caps are certainly allowed during this unit, but are not
required. I would recommend you not wear a new swim suit as the
chlorine is very strong. If you feel it is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY
to wear a tee shirt, it must be a PLAIN, WHITE tee shirt.
